NORTHERN LEHIGH SCHOOL BOARD

Northern Lehigh School Board took the following action on Tuesday:

• Accepted the retirement resignation of Theresa Hall, Slatington Elementary School cook’s helper, effective Nov. 19.

• Accepted the resignation of Jacen Nalesnik, districtwide permanent substitute teacher, effective Dec. 20.

• Appointed Anthony Staivecki as high school cafeteria/hall monitor, at the salary of $11.20 per hour, four hours per day, 180 days per year, effective Dec. 4.

• Approved bus driver Amy Shrout from Brandywine Transportation to transport Northern Lehigh School District students for the 2019-20 school year.

• Granted Sherri Molitoris permission to attend the 34th Annual PASPA Conference, Feb. 26-28, at the Harrisburg-Hershey Sheraton Hotel, Harrisburg, with the cost of registration, $495; lodging, $210; meals, $75; and travel, $97, for a total cost of about $877, to be funded from the business office and human resources budget.

• Appointed Director Gary Fedorcha as Lehigh Career and Technical Institute representative for the term December 2019 through December 2022.

• Approved the law firm of Steckel & Stopp as solicitors for the district for 2020 at an hourly rate of $135 per hour for general services. Litigation related services will be $153 per hour, and the hourly rate for staff will be $105 per hour. General service and litigation rates represent a $3 per hour increase over last year’s rates, while staff hourly rates represent a $2 per hour increase over last year’s rates. The board further approves the retainer fee for 2020 at $2,050. There is no increase over last year’s rate.

• Agreed to enter into an agreement with the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley to provide trauma-informed care training to selected district staff to create a more resilient community. The project is funded through a PCCD grant through the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

• Agreed to execute an affiliation agreement between the district and East Stroudsburg University for a teacher preparation program, which will allow students at ESU to student teach in the district to complete their practicum hours needed for graduation. The agreement will commence on December 2019, and will end December 2024.

• Agreed to terminate the agreement for third-party procurement services for the procurement of school food service commercial and commodity foods and supplies between the district and K12 services Inc. that was originally signed at the Feb. 13, 2017, board meeting, effective Dec. 31.

• Agreed to enter into a one-year agreement with Clearvu School Services LCC, for third-party procurement specialist services for the procurement of school food service commercial and commodity foods and supplies in accordance with the Le-Nor-Co Purchasing Cooperative Request for Proposals, effective Jan. 1, 2020.

• Agreed to enter into an agreement with WGL Energy Services Inc. for the sale and delivery of electricity at a fixed rate of 0.03192/kwh for the term July 2021 to July 2023.
