Motorcyclist seriously injured in Lehighton crash

A Lehighton man was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a motorcycle crash in Lehighton.

The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. as the biker was traveling east on Route 902 in the intersection with Gypsy Hill Road when he lost control.

The bike entered a wooded area where it came to rest. The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center.

Borough police Chief Troy Abelovsky said the victim, a 40-year-old man from the Lehighton area, was life flighted to St. Luke’s Fountain Hill with undisclosed serious life-threatening injuries.

However, Abelovsky declined to release the victim’s name because he wasn’t sure if family was notified at this time.

Abelovsky said the incident remains under investigation.

Lehighton fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
