Burger King announces employee retirement

A longtime employee of Burger King in Tamaqua has retired, according to franchisee Carrols Restaurant Group Inc.

Marc De Pew retired from the company on April 5, after nearly 35 years of service.

De Pew has worked with the restaurant at the 109 Center St. restaurant since 1989, and was a safety coordinator for the past five years.

The company said he is the definition of dedication and loyalty, always willing to come in on his day off or stay later if needed.

“Marc’s different abilities didn’t stand in the way of his passion and dedication to our restaurant and his co-workers and we were proud to honor him,” said Carrols communications manager Janet L. Nowlin.

De Pew considered fellow team members as family, and the restaurant team honored his years of service with a special celebration.

“What his fellow Team Members will remember most about Marc is his warm hello and the 100% effort that he gave every day, as well as the many people he positively impacted over his career,” said Deborah Derby, president of Carrols. “I wish Marc all the best in this next phase of his life, as well as extend our thanks to him for all that he has contributed to Carrols and Burger King over the past three and a half decades, and for the amazing example he set for everyone with whom he came in contact.”
