Pocono Mountain Regional Police made multiple drug-related arrests during the Elements Festival, which was held at the Pocono International Raceway from Thursday through Monday.

Police found attendees in possession of cocaine, ketamine, marijuana, THC oil and wax and psilocybin mushrooms. Officers seized the illegal substances, along with $3,733 in currency and four vehicles.

Also during the festival, four reports of theft, one report of sexual assault and 37 noise complaints were received by police.

People began arriving on the property three weeks before the event to build sets and make other preparations for the festival, which drew a crowd of 30,000.

Officers organized a four-day detail consisting of two days of drug and traffic enforcement, and two days of investigative operations within the festival.

Charges were filed or are pending against multiple people.

Drug charges

On Aug. 5, police found Donald Huffman, 33, Lakeland, Florida, and Jean Tackette, 36, Altamonte Springs, Florida, in possession of 25 grams of marijuana and 7 grams of THC oil; Ryan Grimm, 36, Lewes, Delaware, in possession of 5 grams of marijuana; Dillon Walsh, 29, Phoenix, Arizona, in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Police also charged Carlo Matos, 31, Meridian, Connecticut, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, and seized $1,745, a 2009 Acura, 15 grams of cocaine, 10 grams of ketamine, 15 grams of psilocybin mushroom and a THC vape from him.

On Aug. 6, police charged George Deroo, 38, of Scarborough, Maine, with possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia for 3.5 grams of “Molly,” 3 grams of psilocybin mushroom, THC oil vapes, 4 grams of THC wax; and Juan Gallegos Vasquez, 31, Aurora, Illinois, and Noah Kowalick, 27, Andover, New Jersey, both with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia

On Aug. 7, police charged Taya Nykiara Colvin, 27, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia for 5 grams of cocaine; Matthew Tierny, 42, Quincy, Massachusetts, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of communication facility and possession of paraphernalia; and Marilyn Sanchez, 37, Brockton, Massachusetts, with possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia, and tampering, possession and contraband after finding $350 in U.S. currency, four marijuana cigarettes, a box of THC gummies, 18 blue round tablets, 13½ white bar pills and 3 grams cocaine on her.

On Aug. 8, police charged Richon Adrian Payne, 38, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest, flight on foot and possession/paraphernalia; Kenneth Lee, 36, McKees Rocks, with possession of paraphernalia; Trevor Barber, 26, Bayville, New Jersey, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia; Tiffany Guerrero, 33, North Brunswick, New Jersey, with possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia for having $163 in U.S. currency, 10 grams of ketamine and 10 grams of psilocybin mushroom; Tevarez Jah-Qu Spriggs, 22, Altoona, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of communication facility and possession of drug paraphernalia for having $313 in U.S. currency, 15 grams of ketamine, 3 grams of cocaine, 3.5 grams of marijuana and 5 grams of acid; Desmond Hammon, 35, with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use communication facility and possession of paraphernalia; Arian Lavette, 35, with conspiracy to commit, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use communication facility, possession of drug paraphernalia, seizing $1,162, 30 grams of ketamine, 10 grams of cocaine, 20 grams of psylocibin mushroom and 3 grams of marijuana; Shane Richard, 40, Winfield, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility; Sarah Hornberger, 32, Mifflinburg, with conspiracy to commit, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use communication facility, possession of paraphernalia and found her with 40 grams of cocaine, 85 grams of Molly and 10 Adderall pills.

Police hours

For the detail, police used 231 man hours; the Monroe County Drug Task Force used 127 man hours, and other agencies assisted with 157 man hours. Pocono Mountain police were assisted by the Pennsylvania State Police, Stroud Area Regional Police Department, Monroe County Sheriff Office and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

The department also received numerous noise complaints. Police said Tunkhannock Township granted the festival and raceway an exception to the noise ordinance to allow one event per year to extend noise levels beyond 1 a.m. Given the amount of complaints within the community, however, police said they are evaluating the noise level under state law.
