PUBLIC NOTICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Borough Council of Jim Thorpe Borough will hold a public hearing regarding a proposed Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance of Jim Thorpe Borough. The hearing will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jim Thorpe Memorial Hall located at 115 E. 10th Street, Jim Thorpe, PA. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that copies of the proposed Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance are on file and available for public inspection during normal business hours at The Times News 594 Blakeslee Boulevard Drive West, Lehighton, PA, the Carbon County Law Library, Carbon County Courthouse, Jim Thorpe, PA and the Jim Thorpe Municipal Building located 101 East Tenth Street, Jim Thorpe, PA. The summary of the contents of the Amendment to the Zoning Ordinance is as follows: 1. Definitions. Definitions will be added for Air B&B, Dwelling Unit, Family, Functional Families, Group Homes, Residency (or Occupancy) Long Term, Short Term Rental, Transient Use and Vacation Rental. 2. A new Section will be added to the Ordinance regarding Short Term Rentals and adopting certain standards and requirements that must be met by an Applicant for Short Term Rental activity. 3. A Section will be included regarding registration of existing Short Term Rental Units. Within 90 days following the effective date of the Ordinance, the owner of any Short Term Rental must register such use as a Change of Use Application with the Zoning Officer. 4. Short Term Rental Uses shall be allowed by special exception in the following Districts: C1, C2, C3, R4 and S-Special. 5. Section 500-31 regarding parking shall be amended addressing off street parking requirements.
