The Friends of Tuscarora and Locust Lake State Parks will undertake their first volunteer project of the year today at Locust Lake State Park in Barnesville.

The Friends meeting will be held at the program shelter at 9 a.m. The public is invited.

The volunteer project will get underway at 10 a.m. and includes campsite maintenance for the upcoming camping season. Volunteers will work in groups to clean the 281 campsites. Duties include fire cleaning fire rings, removing downed debris, clearing washouts and raking leaves.

There will be tools available but volunteers are invited to bring their own rakes and shovels. They should bring work gloves, wear appropriate footwear and dress for the weather.
