Trailside Events to open in former Lehighton distillery building

A historic performance and event venue that offers a unique blend of rustic elegance and modern amenities is set to open in the former Insurrection Distillery building in Lehighton.

TrailSide Events, at 201 North Main Lane, is a new event space that can accommodate various occasions, from birthday celebrations to bridal/baby showers and intimate weddings.

Jordan Cummins, who along with her husband, Brandon, own Trailside Events, described the couple’s plans for the venue located across from Dunbar Bottling Co.

“Trailside Events is a versatile venue choice for hosting bridal and baby showers, conferences, birthday parties, intimate weddings and more,” Cummins said. “At Trailside Events, we offer a unique BYO concept, allowing renters to bring in their own food, drinks and supplies.”

Cummins added that alternatively, renters can opt to engage one of their trusted local caterers for their event needs, as the facility is equipped with tables and chairs for your convenience.

“Additionally, we provide amenities such as a refrigerator/freezer, buffet chafing dishes, and a coffee maker with carafes to enhance your event experience,” she said. “Whether you prefer a DIY approach or professional catering services, Trailside Events is here to accommodate your vision.”

Cummins explained why the couple chose to purchase the former Insurrection Distillery LLC.

“My husband and I initially dreamed of opening a bar/restaurant when this building became available for rent,” she said. “However, reality set in quickly as we juggled our full-time jobs and our sons’ extracurricular activities.

“Despite realizing the enormity of committing to such a venture, we couldn’t shake our love for this space. After much brainstorming, we pivoted our vision to create an event space.

“Recognizing the scarcity of venues available for special occasions in our area, we saw an opportunity to fill a gap in the market. Not only will we offer our space for rent, but we also plan to host our own events and collaborate with Half Barrel Brewing and other local businesses for community gatherings.

“This new direction allows us to pursue our passion for hospitality and entrepreneurship while accommodating the demands of our busy lives. We’re excited to create a space where people can come together to celebrate life’s milestones and forge meaningful connections within our community.

Cummins said after delving into the buildings past, they discovered its roots as The Henry Miller Planning Mill and later, its transformation into the City Lumber Company.

“Subsequently, it became home to the Lehigh Stove Co., a legacy we honor with the presence of an original stove still gracing our premises,” she said. “The name Trailside Events was inspired our prime location adjacent to the historic D & L trail.”

Cummins said they will host their grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony from 6-8 p.m. today in collaboration with the Carbon County Chamber.

“Following, we’ll be delighted to start accepting bookings,” she said. ”Mark your calendars and celebrate this exciting milestone with us.”
