Grandparents group participates in seminar

Members of the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren support group were invited to speak at a seminar held recently at Calvary Reformed UCC in Reading.

The group was founded by Carmen McGlothlin of Tamaqua, and has thousands of members in an online community from around the globe.

The “You are Not Alone” seminar was hosted by the Pennsylvania Southeast Conference’s (PSEC) Addiction & Recovery Task Force.

Speakers at the program, including those from McGlothlin’s group, talked about resources, connections and support for those raising grandchildren.

McGlothlin said members were able to talk to other grandparents.

“Those who shared the same struggles, tragedy and heartbreak as so many of us do,” she said.

She noted that there were many emotional testimonials heard and many new friendships gained.

Founded in 2017, the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a network that shares information on resources in all states, as well as shares stories with compassion, understanding and experience.
