Miller Charm Farm to host Customer Appreciation Day

A custom butcher shop located between Lehighton and Tamaqua wants to express its gratitude to its patrons.

Miller Charm Farm LLC, 137 Saint Peters Road, Tamaqua, will host a customer appreciation celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

It will feature hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, favorite tractor voting and free mill for their customers.

There will also be a complimentary meal made from their fresh ingredients (pork BBQ, hot dogs, and sides).

State Rep. Jamie Barton will conduct a ribbon cutting and do a ceremony to open the new butcher floor at 10 a.m. There will also be tours of the new butcher floor and farm.

Catherine Miller, bookkeeper/owner, co-owns the business with her husband, Randy Miller and sons Kevin and Mark Miller.

“We received a state grant to purchase equipment to insure safety in our shop,” Catherine Miller said. “We are a butcher shop that deals with custom butchering.” Miller added they also have a small retail store where they sell pieces of beef, pork, chicken, smoked products, local milk, local cheese, local eggs, to try to help other farmers out by selling their products in the store.

“Randy and I have been doing this for almost 35 years,” she said. “We started with a dairy farm and were custom butchers the whole time.”

In 2013, Catherine said they started retail, and in 2020, formed LLC when they brought their two sons on as partners.

“Every year, we keep on expanding; we just did this big expansion so that we may fall under USDA inspection so we can sell local products through the retail end,” she said. “Right now we have to buy USDA inspected meat from other suppliers for the retail store; this will allow us to supply our own meat to the store, and we can support more local farmers around here by buying more animals and producing more local products.”

Miller Charm Farm is open from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Saturday.
