Tamaqua tops ND

Tamaqua scored late to edge Notre Dame in a non-league girls soccer game on Wednesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

NDGP-Tamaqua

Emma Kuczynski scored her second goal of the game off an assist from Sophia Boyle with 15 seconds left to propel Tamaqua to a 3-2 non-league win over Notre Dame Green Pond.

After a scoreless first half, Katelyn Rudy and Kuczynski scored second half goals before the last minute heroics. Boyle finished the game with two assists. Baylee Reinhardt recorded 21 saves in goal for the Raiders (10-5).

NDGP won the JV game 3-1. Sadie Morrison scored Tamaqua’s lone goal.

North Schuylkill-Jim Thorpe

North Schuylkill and Tamaqua played to a 0-0 tie in a Schuylkill League Division 1 contest.

Olympians’ freshman goalkeeper Kate Bos recorded her sixth shutout of the season with eight saves.

Jim Thorpe held a 22-8 edge in shots on goal.

BOYS SOCCER

Lehighton-Bangor

Bangor cruised to a 5-0 non-league win over Lehighton.

Gabe Lawler had two goals for the Slaters (4-13-1), while Nick Mazzella, Caleb Koresh and Tommy Devine also found the back of the net.

Zach Andrews made 25 saves for the Indians (3-14-1).

JR. HIGH BASKETBALL

7TH GRADE

Jim Thorpe-Tamaqua

Jim Thorpe and Tamaqua split two games.

Hallihan and Bonner scored six points apiece for the Olympians, who won the A game, 19-15.

Jandrisevitz paced the Raiders with seven points.

Tamaqua prevailed 35-15 in the B game. Lorelei Plasha scored 17 points for the Raiders, while Werner tallied 10.

Hartman led the Olympians with eight points.

Panther Valley-Weatherly

A late basket helped Weatherly secure a 23-23 tie against Panther Valley on Monday.

Kaylee Gaydoscick had the tying bucket for the Wreckers and finished with five points. Bethany Houser had 12 points for Weatherly, who scored 19 in the fourth quarter.

Madison Maynard had 15 points for the Panthers.

8TH GRADE

Nativity-Weatherly

Weatherly picked up a 24-17 win over Nativity.

Ashley Pleban paced the Wreckers with 14 points, who improved to 8-3 with the win.

Christal Kislan and Jackie Guth scored four points apiece for Weatherly.

Panther Valley-Weatherly

Weatherly scored a 31-16 win over Panther Valley on Monday.

Ashley Pleban had 16 points for the Wreckers, while Emma Kane tallied six.

Mikayla Yurichek scored five points for the Panthers.
