Tamaqua police file charges

Tamaqua police released information on two recent cases.

• Ann Elizabeth Perez, 29, of West Elm Street, Tamaqua, was charged with harassment after she reportedly punched and kicked another woman on July 28. The victim said Perez pinned her to her couch while her former fiance tried to get an engagement ring off her finger.

They were unsuccessful and began to leave when Perez turned around and punched the victim, causing her to fall to the floor. She then kicked the victim in the face before walking away.

The victim was treated at St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale.

• Torrey Mueller, 41, of West Broad Street, Tamaqua, was charged with retail theft on July 29.

Mueller entered the Family Dollar Store on Center Street in the afternoon and placed several items down the front of his trousers. He went to leave the store at 3:59 p.m., paid for several other items, but didn’t take the items out of his pants to purchase. Those items included a flashlight, an outlet power surge strip and pens, for a total value of $17.

Mueller had a previous retail theft conviction.
