Tamaqua Community Arts Center events

The Tamaqua Community Arts Center has announced upcoming events.

• Paper florist class with Wendy of North Elm Designs: 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The class will create a sunflower. There is a cost for the event. Preregistration is required.

• Gallery Opening Reception: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Visual artist and painter Douglas Didyoung Jr. highlights beauty, joy and loss that is intrinsic to the human experience. His works evoke a sense of motion and vitality, rendered in striking and deeply saturated colors. Douglas moved to Jim Thorpe for the inspiration of the Poconos Mountains. The reception is free. Light refreshments will be served.

• Paint with Paula: 6 p.m. on Sept. 5. The class will create dragonflies. There is a cost for the event.

• Create your own family Succulent Garden with Janet Dean: 10 a.m.-noon Sept. 7. The event is for both children and their parents. Create a beautiful planter with someone special in your life. Materials and plants included.
