Senior Games finish first week

Overcast skies that threatened to rain on the Carbon County Senior Games didn’t deter many seniors from heading to Heisler’s Dairy Bar in Tamaqua Friday in the hopes of putting their way into the winner circle.

One week of competition is now in the books and the North Carbon County seniors, consisting of Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly, are keeping the lead with a combined score of 371.

But don’t count out the returning champions South Carbon County seniors, made up of Lehighton and Palmerton, who have a combined score of 340.

They still have time to make a comeback next week during week two of the games.
