Schuylkill County commissioners on Wednesday approved a number of personnel moves.

With Commissioner Gary J. Hess absent, Commissioners Chairman George F. Halcovage Jr. and Commissioner Frank J, Staudenmeier approved the actions.

They hired Heather Faber, Orwigsburg; Rebekka Houtz, Tower City; and Paul Martin, Frackville, as 911 center telecommunicator 3 trainees $12.84 an hour each.

They also approved Pat McKinney, St. Clair, and Martie Heatherington, Ringcown, as interim district managers at the Soil Conservation agency for 10 weeks to fill in while the district manager is on leave.

The county Salary Board created the position of lieutenant at the county jail, and five part-time corrections officers positions.

No salary was set for the lieutenant position; the corrections officers wages will be per union contract.

Also on Wednesday, commissioners agreed to hire Light-Heigel and Associates Inc., Schuylkill Haven office, as county zoning officer.

The firm replaces Alfred Benesch & Co., Pottsville.

Solicitor Glenn Roth Jr. said the county had negotiated a better rate with Light-Heigel.
