Palmerton news: June 21

Sunday night concert

This Sunday, the Scott Marshall Band (country) will perform in the Palmerton Borough Park bandstand. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and is sponsored by the Horsehead Community Development Fund. Bring a lawn chair. There is no smoking or alcohol allowed in the park.

In case of bad weather, concerts will be canceled with no rain date.

Community meal

A community meal will be served from 4-6 p.m. June 28 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 365 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton. All are invited to a free meal and fellowship.

Food pantry

The Food Pantry for Palmerton Area families in need will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton.

The CACPAC-sponsored pantry serves households in Palmerton, Towamensing and Lower Towamensing townships, and the Palmerton Area School District including Bowmanstown.

The Palmerton Food Bank is in need of canned goods, nonperishable food items and monetary donations.

If you can help, please bring food items to any CACPAC member. Most area churches collect on a regular basis. Your help is greatly appreciated.

4th Friday Fellowship

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will hold is first 4th Friday Fellowship Night at 6 p.m. Friday.

There may be many types of things planned to have fun at these monthly gatherings. The first one will be a game night. If you like to play cards, board games or other types of games, or just sit and talk, come out and spend a couple hours having fun and getting to know one another.

Bring your own favorite game if you like. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be available.

Vacation Bible school

Vacation Bible school will be held July 23 through July 26 with a closing program at 9 a.m. July 29 at morning service at Jerusalem UCC, Trachsville. After the service on July 29, children and families are invited to a family carnival.

The theme of this year’s Bible school is “The Depths of God’s Love.

Bible school is open to all children ages 2 to 12.
