Palmerton Democrats meeting scheduled

Mike Morrill, executive director of Keystone Progress, will address the Palmerton Area Democratic Club on "Issues Facing Pennsylvania in 2015" at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bert's Steak House, 416 Delaware Ave., Palmerton.

Based in Harrisburg, Keystone Progress is Pennsylvania's largest online progressive action network, an affiliate of the USAction and ProgressNow networks.Morrill will share his insights about the impact of the last election on legislative and political issues facing Pennsylvania.He will also give an overview of the Pennsylvania Progressive Summit 2015 to be held in Harrisburg Feb. 6 and 7. The keynote speaker will be Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont. Other featured speakers include Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood Action Fund, and MSNBC's Krystal Ball, a co-host on MSNBC's "The Cycle," who will be interviewed by MSNBC's Patrick J. Murphy, anchor of the veterans' program "Taking the Hill."Club members are asked to support the community action project by bringing canned goods to donate to the Food Bank run by the Community Action Council of Palmerton Area Churches.The club covers Palmerton, Bowmanstown, Towamensing Township and Lower Towamensing Township. Meetings are monthly, the second Tuesday of the month, September through May, 7 p.m., call for location.
