NCC hosts addiction forum, recovery session

Celebrate recovery, remember those lost to addiction, and find help for those who still struggle at an Addiction and Recovery Forum at Northampton Community College’s Bethlehem Campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The campus is located at 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem Township.

The event includes special programs, guest speakers and community outreach tables. Events will be held in the college center, room 220 unless otherwise noted.

Guest speakers will speak from 9-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m.; a current drug trends discussion will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; HOPE (Heroin & Opioid Prevention Education), 2-4 p.m.

Information, activities and outreach will be in Laub Lounge, second floor, College Center.

Lunch will be provided.

The event is open to the community and sponsored by Northampton Community College, Northampton County Drug & Alcohol, and the Center for Humanistic Change Inc.

Northampton Community College is also offering the new Certified Recovery Specialist credential for people in recovery from substance use disorders who wish to help others move into and through the recovery process as peer support.

Completion of this course will facilitate the student toward Pennsylvania state certification as a certified peer recovery specialist.

A free information session about the program will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 22 at NCC’s Fowler Family Southside Center.
