Lehigh Gap Nature Center hosts annual art exhibition

Artists who use Mother Nature as their muse will come together to highlight their works at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center next month.

The nature center’s seventh annual Nature in Art exhibition will take place from Nov. 9 to 17 at the Osprey House, located at 8844 Paint Mill Road, Slatington.

“Lehigh Gap Nature Center’s Nature in Art exhibition is an annual competition open for artists to showcase their nature-themed creations in a variety of mediums,” said Chad Schwartz, director of science and education at the center. “While most of LGNC’s programs are education and recreation-based, the art show provides another avenue for area residents to experience and enjoy nature.”

The art show is open to all artists but the deadline to submit a piece of artwork is quickly approaching. Artists can submit any artwork depicting nature and native species of plants or animals in some way, no matter what medium, including painting, drawing, printmaking, works on paper, sculptures and more.

The deadline for submission for consideration is Oct. 18 with notification of acceptance being Oct. 28. Entries will be reviewed to make sure they meet all exhibit criteria.

Pieces that are accepted into the exhibit should be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 8 at the center’s Osprey House.

There will be no judging in the exhibition with the exception of the People’s Choice awards.

An artists’ reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Nov. 17 and those in attendance can then take their piece home following the reception, or pick up their work between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 18.

To enter a piece, fill out an entry form at http://lgnc.org/get-involved/art-photography-shows and email high resolution files with the artist’s name, title of the piece, medium, dimensions and price the piece can be sold at to submissions@lgnc.org.

For complete guidelines for submissions, visit the aforementioned website, call 610-760-8889 or email mail@lgnc.org.
