Lansford man faces drug-related charges

A Lansford man faces various drug-related charges.

Nicholas Haspe, 38, faces charges on delivery of controlled substance, manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal use of communication facility, and possession of drug paraphernalia,

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Jarrod Bulger of the Lansford Borough Police Department:

Starting in November, Bulger began receiving information from a confidential informant regarding drug trafficking in the Carbon County area.

During the week of Nov. 19, Bulger and other officers met with the confidential informant at a predetermined location at which plans were made for the informant to make a controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Haspe.

After the controlled buy, the informant was debriefed by Bulger in summary that in the residence Haspe exchanged the prerecorded funds for methamphetamine.

The methamphetamine was placed into evidence and will be submitted to the Pennsylvania State Police Crime Laboratory for further analysis.

During the week of Dec. 2, officers met with the informant at a predetermined location in Carbon County. During that meeting, plans were made for the informant to make a subsequent controlled purchase of methamphetamine from Haspe. Again, the transaction was facilitated via cellphone and was confirmed by the informant to be Haspe.

The informant was observed entering the residence, and after a short time, exited the residence and met directly back with Bulger, at which time the informant immediately relinquished a quantity of methamphetamine.

The methamphetamine was placed into evidence and will be submitted to Pennsylvania State Police Crime Laboratory for further analysis.

Haspe is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000, 10 percent bail.

Haspe is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing on Dec. 19 before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford.
