Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met June 6 at the Tamaqua YMCA with 50 members in attendance. President Melody Weicker opened the meeting with the reading “Live Each Day.”

A moment of silence was held in memory of Florina Martin. John Fredericks was added to the sick list. A warm welcome was extended to new member Carol Walburn.

April, May and June birthdays will be celebrated at the June 20 meeting. There will be a picnic lunch at the June 27 meeting to celebrate Independence Day.

The group is open to anyone 55 or older, meeting at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the YMCA, unless there is a holiday.

Blood drive

Tamaqua Masonic Lodge No. 238 will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, 7 Shawn Ave., Route 54, Tamaqua.

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m. Restore 2019 Prayer gathering and launch 6 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
