State police at the Lehighton barracks reported that four people are facing DUI and/or drug charges as a result of traffic incidents that occurred between Friday and Monday. In each of the reports, police declined to reveal the identities of those involved.

The initial incident was a one-vehicle crash at 12:15 a.m. Friday on Route 248 eastbound in Bowmanstown Borough. Police said their investigation revealed a 37-year-old man was driving under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Palmerton Hospital for a blood-alcohol test.

At 10:53 p.m. Friday, police stopped a vehicle for violations in the area of Route 443 and Seneca Road in Mahoning Township and found a 52-year-old man from Lehighton to be driving under the influence of drugs. The man was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

A 28-year-old man from Polk Township was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his license is suspended after he was stopped at 9:44 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Interchange and Mill Pond roads in Polk Township.

The fourth incident involved a 36-year-old woman from Wind Gap who was suspected of driving under the influence while having a 2-month-old boy in the vehicle.

The vehicle was stopped at 12:18 p.m. Sunday in the parking lot of the Kunkletown General Store, 586 Kunkletown Road, Kunkletown. Police said in addition to suspecting the woman to be DUI, a search of the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.

The 2-month-old boy was transported from the scene by family and the operator was taken to the Monroe County DUI Center for processing.
