Coast Guard Auxiliary group receives award

During U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Division 15, Northern Lakes, monthly meeting in September, Auxiliary Flotilla 15-11, in Easton was presented with the Coast Guard Auxiliary’s “Diversity Management 3 Star Award of Excellence.”

This award was in recognition of “creating a positive environment, valuing all members and promoting individual success.”

Flotilla 15-11’s diversity staff officer, William Durdon of Elmhurst Township, together with flotilla Commander Ivan O. Meixell Jr. of Jim Thorpe, worked diligently during the past year to ensure that all members of the flotilla were able to successfully accomplish all tasks they set out to achieve.

Flotilla 15-11 has a total of 15 members and is one of the more active flotillas within the division and continues to open its arms to anyone who is interested in becoming a participating member of the auxiliary.

Some of this year’s accomplishments were the qualification of four members as boat crew, two members being awarded the Marine Safety Pin, one member qualified as a commercial fishing vessel examiner and another member qualified as a waterfront facilities security inspector.
