Carbon County court

Two defendants, who were scheduled to go on trial this week in Carbon County court, instead entered into plea bargains with the district attorney’s office and pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

Thomas Cellucci

, 38, of Tobyhanna, entered a guilty plea to a summary offense of harassment in exchange for a misdemeanor 2 simple assault charge being dropped.

Cellucci was arrested by Kidder Township on June 30, 2018, for an incident involving a woman that occurred in the White Haven area. Police said they responded to a domestic assault report. Cellucci and the victim have a child together and were involved in an altercation. The situation was labeled “toxic.”

Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted the plea and imposed a fine of $100 and costs of about $1,000.

Arnold B. Goldberg

, 74, of Lansford, pleaded to a summary offense of harassment with the DA’s office dropping a misdemeanor 2 count of simple assault. He was arrested by Lansford police for an incident on Aug. 26, 2019, following a domestic dispute involving a female along West Snyder Avenue.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II sentenced Goldberg to serve 20 to 87 days in the county prison, with credit for 87 days already served, and paroled him. Goldberg was also ordered to make restitution of $200 to the victim and pay court costs of about $1,000.
