Bowmanstown council discusses road signs

Bowmanstown borough council member Norman Engle Jr., chairman of the streets committee, last week recommended the purchase of 12 road signs that will be placed at the entrances and exits to Fireline Road, Bank Street and White Street.

The signs will state “Brake Retarders Prohibited Within Borough Limits” and “End Brake Retarder Prohibition.”

The purchase includes the three signs approved at the November meeting.

Each sign will cost between $30 and $60.

Engle said he was not sure of the exact price. The council approved the purchase.

Engle also said street work involving patching and curb repair is being planned for the spring. The streets include:

• Lime Street: from Hamilton Street to Ore Street and from Ore to White Street

• Craig Street: 200 feet at the bottom for patching

• Lincoln Avenue: 350 feet of the roadway to be repaired

• White Street: to Stoney Hill and to Ridge Street for patching

Members of the council will be meeting with John Davis, a representative from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, to draft the language for the small road projects.
