Construction suit started

Eric T. Wiltrout, 140 Silk St., Jim Thorpe, has filed a civil action against Ronald W. Jackson and R.W. Jackson Contractor, 38 Fox Lane, Jim Thorpe, concerning a construction job at the plaintiff’s premises.

The plaintiff claims he paid Jackson $10,000 in advance towards a quote of $39,916 for the job, which Wiltrout at one point halted because he contends the competence of the work crew was in question.

Wiltrout lists five counts against Jackson, including breach of contract, unjust enrichment, conversion, misappropriation and unfair trade practices and is asking the court to award him treble damages, attorney’s fees and costs and to enter judgment in his favor in the amount of $10,000.

Sues after accident

Adam Kleintop, 7138 Decatur St., Apt. 3, New Tripoli, has filed a civil suit against Robin Klock, 1292 Stagecoach Road East, Palmerton, seeking damages in excess of $50,000, plus costs, interest and other relief, over a motor vehicle accident.

The complaint states on Nov. 13, 2020, clock was driving a vehicle eastbound on Stagecoach Road in Towamensing Township that traveled into the westbound lane and struck head-on a vehicle operated by Klock.

The complaint claims negligence on behalf of the defendant and states Kleintop suffered serious permanent bodily injuries, emotional distress and physical and mental anguish as a result of the defendant’s actions.

Credit card default suits

The Bank of America, Charlotte, North Carolina, has filed a credit default action against Jesse D. Moyer, 223 Jennifer Lane, Lehighton. Judgment in the amount of $10,204.02, plus costs, is sought.

Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC, Norfolk, Virginia, has filed a credit default action against Tammantha Gregory, 315 Prospect St., Weissport. Judgment in the amount of $510.17, plus costs, is sought.

Portfolio also filed an action against Albert Roe, 1107 Third St., Palmerton. Judgment in the amount of $2,047.01, plus costs, is sought.

A third action by Portfolio is against Mallory Field, 478 Franklin Ave., Palmerton. Judgment in the amount of $1,251.93, plus costs, is sought.

In a fifth action, Portfolio names Chris Serfass Concrete, 1663 Mahoning Mountain Road, Lehighton, as the defendant. Judgment in the amount of $3,358.02, plus costs, is sought.

Discover Bank, Bensalem, has filed a credit default action against James J. Thibeault, 641 Onoko Lane, Jim Thorpe. Judgment in the amount of $6,748.16 is sought.

Discover also filed an action against Jeremias Torres, 144 W. Patterson St., Lansford. Judgment in the amount of $8,744.27 is sought.

Transcripts of judgment

LVNV Funding, LLC, Greenville, South Carolina, has placed on record a judgment in its favor against Tasha Christman, a/k/a Tasha N. Vogel, 114 W. Fell St., Summit Hill. The judgment in the amount of $1,009.11 was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford on Sept. 6, 2022.

Midland Credit Managements, Inc., Eatontown, New Jersey, has placed on record a judgment in its favor against Stephen Bachert, 1145 Hickory Road, Palmerton. The judgment in the amount of $2,633.75 was ordered by Magisterial District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton on July 20, 2021.

Midland also recorded a judgment in its favor against Alicia Gomez, 4 Linden Drive, Albrightsville. The judgment in the amount of $1,182.99 was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Eric M. Schrantz, of Jim Thorpe on June 27, 2022.

Seeks assessment funds

Glen Onoko Estates Property Owners Association, 1001 Glen Onoko Drive, Jim Thorpe, filed a lien against Patricia M. Williams, Plymouth Meeting, over a property she owns in the development.

The association is seeking $1,279.40 for unpaid assessments currently levied against the property owner.

Revenue from deeds

Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Donna Gentile reported her office recorded 252 deeds, 198 mortgages and 348 other writs during the month of November.

As a result of those transactions, Gentile turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $40,384.18. A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $31,518.77; data processing fees, $1,257.25; notaries, $70; commission on transfers and writs, $6,232.86; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $1,305.30.

Gentile remitted $399 in state writ taxes to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, while Carbon County municipalities and school districts shared realty transfer tax disbursements totaling $310,939.72, the same amount that was forwarded to the state in realty transfer taxes.

Gentile deposited $2,412 in the Recorder of Deeds Record Improvement Fund and $1,608 in the Carbon County Records Improvement Fund, these being fees assessed by state law on each transaction for records management needs. An additional $29,302 was collected and remitted to the state for its Judicial Computer System program. Also, $7,396.70 was collected last month for the Affordable Housing Program in Carbon County.

In all, funds collected in the Recorder’s office last month amounted to $403,381.32.
