September 22, 1973 - Dru Herman runs for a pair of touchdowns and Jim Thorpe’s defense comes up big as the Olympians register a 27-0 victory over Palisades. Herman crosses the goal line from two yards out in the second quarter to open the game’s scoring, and adds an 8-yard tally early in the fourth quarter to up Thorpe’s lead to 21-0. Jimmy Redline finishes with 120 rushing yards on just 11 carries, one of them a 1-yard TD run. The defense allows just 97 yards of offense and also forces two turnovers, one of them an interception by Charles McGuire. The winners, coached by Barry Hackenberg, also receive a 6-yard scoring run from Mike Clewell.
