“The flag is neither numb nor dumb. It speaks,” was the theme of the address given by Carbon County Commissioner Albert U. Koch at last night’s Lehighton Elks Lodge Flag Day ceremonies held in the borough amphitheater.

Koch, who is also a former of Lehighton, continued by saying, “Every star is a tongue, which speaks for one of the 50 states. Every stripe is repeating over and over the composition and principle upon which our nation was founded.”

Mayor Wilbur Bauchspies offered the welcome address and Thomas Huber, exalter ruler, served as the master of ceremonies. The Lehighton Men’s Band, directed by Paul Smith, gave selections during the program.
