FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP SUPERVISORS

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Announced that the initial cost for residents to hook up to the water line from Wagner Street to St. Luke’s was $4,300, but that amount has been changed to $3,100, which represents a $1,200 savings for anyone who wants to hook up.

• Announced that the township received $78,781 in state aid that is being used to help defray the costs of the township’s police pension and nonuniform pension plans. A portion of the state aid money was used to help $42,362 needed to fund the police pension plan, while a portion of the state aid money was used to help pay $40,315 needed to fund the nonuniform pension plan.

• Announced the Community Development Block Grant fiscal year 2020 will be used for the drainage improvements to Red Hill Road Phase 2, in the amount of $77,824.

• Announced that the township received $23,543 from the Volunteer Fire Relief Association, and that the money was given directly to the Franklin Township Fire Volunteer Fire Company to help support the fire company’s need.

• Hired Steve Hoffman to represent the township with the opioid subpoena, retroactive from Sept. 21.

• On a 2-0 vote, appointed Guy Barry as the Central Sewer Connection Inspector, replacing Herman Snyder. Board Chairman Jason Frey abstained as Barry is related to Frey’s wife.

• Adopted the volunteer tax credit ordinance.

• Approved a resolution approving the coronavirus agreement.

• Announced that the Electronic Recycling Day will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday for township residents only.

• Announced trick-or-treat night will be held in the township from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28.

• Approved a request for the use of Phifer’s Ice Dam area to hold a free, no contact drive-thru rabies clinic from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Announced that the Nov. 11 garbage collection has been changed to Nov. 12 for the Veterans Day holiday.
