FERN RIDGE STATE POLICE- DUI/DRUGS

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several driving under the influence and drug cases.

• A 34-year-old Blakeslee man was locked up in the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, after a traffic stop made by police at 12:26 a.m. July 8 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said he was driving a 2004 Dodge that was stopped at the intersection of Flame and Candle drives after they saw it crossing over the fog line several times and having an illegible registration plate on it. The officers said he was observed to be impaired and in possession of a controlled substance and related contraband.

Police said he was taken into custody and taken to the jail where he consented to a chemical test of his blood. His name was not released.

• A 31-year-old Freeland man is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs after a traffic stop made by police at 9:45 a.m. July 20 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle after they stopped the driver for traveling at a high rate of speed. They said the driver of the 2015 Infiniti admitted to smoking the marijuana before the stop and was arrested for suspicion of DUI pending laboratory tests.

• A 36-year-old Bangor man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance as the result of a traffic stop made by police at 5:03 p.m. July 25 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said they stopped the 2005 Lexus for a Motor Vehicle Code violation, after which time the man found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

He was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for a blood draw. Police said the charges will be filed pending the laboratory test results.

• Police arrested a 19-year-old Effort man on drug possession and driving under the influence charges after he was stopped in a 2014 Honda CRV at 6:12 p.m. July 24 in Chestnuthill Township for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.

Police said they made the stop at the intersection of Route 115 and Rinker Drive. The driver was discovered to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Police said he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and related paraphernalia and was taken into custody and transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, for a blood draw. Police said the charges will be filed pending the laboratory test results.

• A man who was traveling 85 mph on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township was found to be in possession of marijuana.

Police charged J. Argueta, 21, with drug possession after he was stopped at 5:57 p.m. July 19 when exceeding a 65 mph speed limit by 20 mph. Police smelled a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search warrant was executed, resulting in police, finding 30 grams of marijuana in the man’s possession.
