Mahoning turnpike ramp to be closed Friday

The ramp from the Mahoning Valley Toll Plaza to State Route 209 northbound will close at 5 a.m. Friday to place concrete for a bridge abutment wall.

The ramp is expected to be reopened to traffic by 5 p.m. A message board will be activated to advise motorists of the closure and direct them to keep left for Route 209 northbound and a flagger will be stationed at the closure to assist.Next week, New Enterprise, the contractor for the work, is scheduled to erect steel beams on the overhead structure that carries the turnpike over Route 209 and Pohopoco Creek on Monday and Wednesday. All work will be conducted between of 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. with the following restrictions:Northeastern Extension (I-476) northbound: Aug. 11 and Aug 13, a single-lane traffic pattern closing the right lane.Ramp to Route 209 northbound: Aug. 13, the ramp from the Mahoning Valley Toll Plaza to State Route 209 northbound will be closed to traffic. The contractor may require additional time to reopen the ramp to set-up and tear-down the crane.Route 209: Aug. 13: flagger controlled stoppages in both directions of no more than 15 minutes in advance of the work at the overhead bridge.
