Crashes probed

State police at Fern Ridge reported on several crashes probed by troopers.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, along Old Stage Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Robert F. Riche, 37, of Effort, was driving a 2003 Hyundai Sonata, when the vehicle left the road and landed in a ditch. Riche was injured and taken to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, for treatment.

Riche was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed.

A one-vehicle crash was reported on Friday about 8:08 a.m. along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Jennifer L. O'Brien, 29, of Scotch Plains, N.J., was driving a 2008 Honda Pilot eastbound when a deer entered the road in front of her. She was unable to avoid hitting the animal and struck it with the front end.

O'Brien and passenger, Willie P. Ragasa Jr., 28, of Houston, Texas, were not injured. Damages were disabling to the vehicle.

A two-vehicle crash was reported about 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, along SR715 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Daniel S. Bittenbender, 49, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado truck northbound while Cassandra L. Jago, 23, of Stroudsburg, was driving a 1995 Sabaru Impreza southbound and began to make a left turn onto the Effort/Neola Road. She failed to yield the right-of-way and a collision occurred.

Jago and Bittenbender were both injured and taken by West End ambulance to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment.

Jago was cited for vehicle turning left.

A two-vehicle crash occurred about 11:34 a.m. on Saturday along SR209 in front of the Pleasant Valley High School, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said John E. Slater, 63, of Kunkletown, driving a 2009 Nissan Cube, was stopped for traffic while northbound, while Alexis K. Telepo, 18, of Sciota, driving a 2008 Dodge Ram truck, was traveling behind him. Telepo failed to stop with the front of her truck hitting the rear of Slater's Cube.

No one was injured with minor damages to both vehicles.
