The Pleasant Valley School District elementary principals reported that the schools' PTOs Bear Walk held on Oct. 18 was a huge success, earning over $32,000. The money will be used to fund student activities and needs.

Polk Elementary raised $7,100; Pleasant Valley Elementary raised $18,000 and PVI raised $7,000.)

PVMS principal Rocco Seiler told the board that one of his students, Nicholas Mazzella, asked if he could leave a Positive is Powerful message on every student's locker. With a little brainstorming, it was decided how to do it by obtaining inspirational quotes from online, putting them on labels and then pasting the labels on Post-it notes. Then after school, the student and helpers, placed a Post-it note on every student's locker so it was the first thing they saw the next morning.

"It was a huge hit, put on Facebook and went viral. It's a real step forward in the message of Hope," he said.

Carole Geary, PVSD superintendent reported the enrollment as of Oct. 14 was 5,818.
