Schuylkill driver facing DUI count

Published November 04. 2013 05:01PM

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 11:41 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, along Schuylkill Mountain Road, just west of Spotts Lane, in South Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Matthew Bann, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2000 Dodge Intrepid eastbound and had just negotiated a right curve but was going too fast and lost control. The car traveled across the road and entered the berm, where it continued for about 60 feet up a slight embankment before impacting with a tree with the right front fender.

After the collision the car became stuck and Bann left the scene. He was later located and found to be under the influence. He was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers said.
