The hallways of Pathstone Head Start were filled with giggles and smiling children during the program's annual "Circus Day." The event is held each year to give students a fun day filled with arts and crafts, music and carnival-style activities.

"We do this to give the kids something fun to do. They really enjoy it," said Danielle Strohl, the vice president of Head Start's parent committee.

"It's something nice for the kids, and it gets the parents involved."

Parents and teachers joined forces to make the day happen, with parents volunteering and running many of the activity stations. Children colored on "lollipops," did beanbag and ping pong tosses, and received a sticker for every activity that they completed.

Strohl first became involved with "Circus Day" when her daughter Autumn Clewell, now 5 years old, joined the Head Start program. This year Strohl dressed as a clown to lead children in masks and clown wigs through a parade around the building.

"This was all for the kids," she added, while handing out instruments for the children to play during the parade. "We hope they had fun."

"Circus Day" is one of three annual festival-style events held for the students. Head Start also hosts a "Spring Fest" and "Winter Fest" each year.

Pathstone Head Start is located at the PFC Clyde R. Houser Lehighton Annex building.
