State police at Frackville reported investigating two crashes on Schuylkill County roadways on Saturday, Jan. 19.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 3:07 a.m. along SR339 in Mahanoy Township, in which the driver is facing a driving under the influence (DUI) charge. Troopers said James A. Antonelli, 46, of Ringtown, was driving 1997 Ford Explorer northbound when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the road. The Explorer exited the west berm and overturned multiple times while traveling through a wooded area.

The vehicle came to rest about 100 feet into the woods, on its roof facing south. Antonelli was flown by Lifeflight helicopter to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, for treatment of a back injury and lacerations. Troopers said the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on Antonelli. The DUI charge is pending blood test results.

A two vehicle crash was reported about 8:31 a.m. on Saturday along SR61 in New Castle Township. Troopers said Almeda L. Kline, 67, of Pottsville, driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Galante, attempted to enter the road from a service station and pulled into the path of a 1998 Peterbilt truck driven by Jason W. Zerby, 27, of Ashland, who was northbound.

The driver's side front of the truck hit the front end of the Galante. No one was injured. Troopers cited Kline for vehicle entering or crossing roadway.
