Driver facing DUI after crash

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one vehicle crash.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 2:25 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, they responded to a crash along Scotch Pine Drive in the Stillwater Lakes Community, in Pocono Summit. On scene they found a vehicle had sheared off a PPL utility pole and hit several trees.

The driver, Joseph L. Scicutella, 21, of Pocono Summit, was trapped in the vehicle but was not seriously injured. He was freed from the vehicle by rescue personnel.

He was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of injuries and a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the test results, police said.
