Eldred Township wants parade participants

The Eldred Township Halloween Parade is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in Kunkletown. Rain date is Sunday, Oct. 28.

The committee would like to invite everyone to preregister to enter the parade by Oct. 14. Only preregistered applicants will be guaranteed treat bags. There is no registration fee but the committee would like if each participant would bring a nonperishable food item to be donated to the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network food bank.

Costumes will be judged on the following categories: Most Original; Cutest; Ugliest; Best Pair (for example Mickey Mouse/Minnie Mouse; Laurel and Hardy, etc.); Best Group (walking); Best Float.

There will be three cash prizes per category.

Participants are asked to be at St. Matthew's church grove for check-in between 11 a.m. and noon. The judging will start promptly at 12:15 p.m. Only preregistered applicants will be judged. Unregistered participants are welcome to walk in the parade, but they must be at the grove for line-up no later than 12:30 p.m. The parade will begin at 1 p.m.
