Driver is facing DUI charges

Published September 24. 2012 05:05PM

Peter Witman, 20, of Summit Station, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol as a result of a one-vehicle crash at 2:40 a.m. Sept. 20 on West Wade Road in cass Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville barracks said two persons were hurt in the crash, including Witman and his passenger, Zachery Zimmerman, 20, of Seltzer. Police said they each sustained moderate injuries.

Police said Witman was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier eastbound and was traveling too fast for conditions where the vehicle rounded a right-handed curve. Police said the operator lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the west lane and berm, left the roadway and struck a rock embankment on the north side of the road.

Police said the car then began to roll over, traveled about 110 feet, crossed back over the west lane and came to rest on its roof.

Police said upon investigating they found Witman to appear to be under the influence of alcohol.
