Monroe crash

State police at Lehighton reported on a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 2:05 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, along SR209 in Polk Township, Monroe County, in which the driver was cited.

Troopers said Patrick Y. Shaknitz, 20, of Kunkletown, was operating a 2010 Subaru Forester northbound when he lost control for unknown reasons. The vehicle traveled northwest across the southbound lane where the driver side struck the guide rail.

The vehicle then crossed both lanes while traveling northeast with the passenger side front striking the east guide rail.

The Subaru then spun 180-degrees clockwise and traveled north along the guide rail for about 120 feet before coming to rest partially in the northbound lane and partially on the east shoulder.

Shaknitz was not injured.

He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
