Tamaqua woman facing drug counts

A Tamaqua woman was committed to the Schuylkill County prison, Pottsville, on Wednesday after Rush Township police discovered drugs during a traffic stop.

Diane S. Sylvetser, 48, was stopped on Claremont Avenue, at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. Found inside her vehicle were 10 bags of heroin, a syringe and a spoon. She was transported to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for blood tests, then arraigned before District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, on charges of possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $10,000.

Additional charges of driving under the influence (DUI) are pending test results.

A state police K-9 Unit, based in Frackville, assisted Rush police at the scene.
