Monroe driver facing charges

A Monroe County driver is facing charges, including driving under the influence (DUI).

State police at Lehighton said about 1:24 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 20, troopers observed a driver committing a vehicle code violation along Mountain View Drive, east of Lower Greenhill Road, in Polk Township, and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene at a very high rate of speed never stopping for several stop signs. After about four miles of pursuit the driver tried to pull into Jaycees Park and turn off the lights of the vehicle to avoid police.

The driver was apprehended and identified as Danielle J. Sandt, 31, of Kunkletown. She was taken into custody and charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person, DUI, and several motor vehicle code violations.
