Coaldale arrests

Coaldale police have arrested a New York man on drug charges, and the borough woman at whose apartment he was found on parole violation charges.

Marcel Mamouzette, 46, of 135 Ingraham Rd., Hempstead, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed with District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua by Police Chief Tim Delaney, here's what happened:Delaney was asked by the adult probation department to meet with them at 2 p.m. March 9 at 129 E. Phillips St.Upon arrival, Supervisor Charles Begansky told Delaney that he had found a clear plastic bag on the closet floor in the bedroom of apartment 3. The bag contained seven smaller bags containing marijuana. Each of the small bags weighed 1 gram. Begansky also found a scale in the top dresser drawer in the bedroom, along with a crack pipe in a kitchen cabinet.Mamouzette had $260 in his left sock and $500 in his right sock, and $160 in his pockets. Mamouzette admitted the drugs and paraphernalia were his. He was arraigned before Bayer and jailed in Schuylkill County Prison under $50,000 straight cash bail.Police also arrested Nicole Savage, 21, who was the apartment's tenant, and another woman at the apartment, Melissa McGuire, no age given, both for parole violations.
