Radar detector, cash stolen

Mahoning Township police are investigating the theft of $707 in cash and a radar detector from a vehicle.

Chief of Police Kenneth Barnes said a 36 year old New Ringgold man had stopped at the Big Lots store with his 4-year-old daughter. Barnes said the man parked his black 2004 Jeep Liberty in a parking space in front of the store.

The victim told police he was in the store with his daughter for about 20 minutes. When he and his daughter returned to the car he discovered that person(s) had entered it and stole a bank envelope containing $707 in cash, some loose change, and a Cobra radar detector valued at approximately $100.

There was no forced entry into the vehicle. Police are asking for help from the public that if anyone witnessed the crime to please call police at (570) 386-2241.
