Vandalism to church is probed

An act of vandalism to a church in Schuylkill County is being investigated.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred at Manbeck's Evangelical Church located at 110 Wild Cherry Rd., in Schuylkill Haven, Washington Township. Troopers said unknown criminals threw eggs and sprayed graffiti on the church siding. The incident occurred sometime between July 19 at 11 a.m. and July 21 at 12:20 p.m.Troopers also reported on other acts of criminal mischief.Troopers said unknown persons went to the borough grove at Fifth and Spruce streets, in Cressona, and threw rocks at several windows on a pavilion. The rocks broke one glass window pane and two plexi-glass window panes. Damages were estimated at $100. The incident occurred sometime between 4 p.m. on July 21 and 10 a.m. on July 22.Someone threw numerous rocks at the windshields on six company vehicles parked at Cressona Textile Waste Inc., 98 Front St., Cressona. The windshields were damaged in numerous places. Damages were estimated at $1,200. The incident occurred sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Friday, July 23, and 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.Troopers said unknown persons cut a spark plug wire on a 1981 Chevrolet Cavalier while parked at Fiddler Court, in Pine Grove Township. The incident occurred sometime between 3 p.m. on July 22 and 8:30 a.m. on July 23. The car is owned by Rosemary Speraw, of Pine Grove.Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.
