Lansford Borough will be conducting the Delinquent Sewer Transmission collection shortly. Residents who wish to avoid further fees and possible water shut-off, are asked to remit their amount due to the borough office or mail it to Lansford Borough, P.O. Box 126, Lansford, Pa. 18232.
The Lansford Alumni will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. at the Sports Zoo in Lansford.
This will be a planning meeting for the 2011 reunion. The committee is looking for input to help with a class list. If interested, call Sue Lukac at (570) 645-7458.
There will be a meeting to nominate officers for the Panther Valley JROTC in the classroom on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. All parents are invited.
The executive board of the Nesquehoning Woman's Club will hold a meeting at the home of Madeline Ligenza on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.
The club will hold its Opening Dinner at the Viennese Villa in Coaldale on Monday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
St. Paul Lutheran
The worship service at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, Sept. 12, will begin at 10:30 a.m.
On Monday, Sept. 13, the W.E.L.C.A./Auxiliary will meet at noon in the church. All interested women of the church are welcome to attend and should bring a bag lunch. Dessert will be provided.
The parish will hold a council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the church.
Harvest Home will be celebrated on Sunday, Sept. 26. Donations of food items for the Summit Hill Food Pantry will be collected. Those participating can drop off their donations in the box provided in the narthex, or they can contact any Altar Guild member.
The schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, Sept. 12, is as follows:
Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church. The Rev. Burgess Gordon, pastor, will officiate at both services.
The adult Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. in the Coaldale church.
Fall cleanup plans
Summit Hill Borough officials have announced the schedule for the town's annual fall cleanup. It is as follows:
On Thursday, Oct. 7, refuse will be picked up on the east side of town, along with Knepper's Trailer Court and East and West White Bear drives.
On Tuesday, Oct. 12, refuse will be picked up on the west side of town, along with Laurel Drive and East and West Mountaintop roads.
Items to be picked up include tires (no more than five), tire rims, auto body parts, refrigerators, freezers, vending machines, dehumidifiers, water coolers, heat pumps, washers, dryers and stoves. All items must have all chemicals removed from them and their doors taken off. In addition, up to 10 bags of garbage will be collected.
