The Palmerton Area School District announces that schools will reopen for students on Wednesday, Aug. 25. Elementary students (K-6) begin at 8:30 a.m. and dismiss at 3 p.m. Morning kindergarten dismisses at 11:15 a.m., and afternoon kindergarten sessions begin at 12:15 p.m. Junior high school (7-8) and high school (9-12) begin at 7:30 a.m. and dismiss at 2:25 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 25, junior high school students shall report to the junior high school gymnasium. High school students shall report directly to their assigned areas upon entering the building at 7:30 a.m. to receive their scheduled and have a class meeting as listed: freshman class, auditorium; sophomore class, cafeteria; and junior and senior classes, gymnasium. Carbon Career and Technical Institute students shall board their buses by 7:15 a.m. at the high school for transportation to CCTI.School bus schedules will be posted by all district school entrances and will appear in the TIMES NEWS. Any questions regarding bus schedules should be directed to Leon George II School Buses Inc., at (610) 826-7684.Lunch prices have been set at $1.80 for students in grades 1-6, and $1.90 for students in grades 7-12. Milk and juice are available for .45. Reduced lunch prices for all qualifying students are .40. High school breakfast is available for $1.05 and elementary breakfast is available for .95. Reduced breakfast prices are .30 for qualifying students. Free and reduced lunch applications will be available in the cafeteria on Aug. 25. The first day elementary menu is chicken nuggets, soft pretzel, green beans, assorted fruit, and milk. The weekly alternates for all elementary schools include peanut butter and jelly sandwich or yogurt. Cheese pizza and chef salad are also available at Towamensing and S.S. Palmer Elementary schools. The junior high/senior high school menu includes entrées from the daily pizza/pasta station, fiesta line, deli station, salads, and grill station.
