Schuylkill fire company robbed

Published October 15. 2009 05:00PM

A Schuylkill County fire company was burglarized this week.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said the Friedensburg Fire Company in Wayne Township was entered sometime between 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.13, and 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Entry was gained by using a key, troopers said. Once inside the criminals stole about $10 from an unlocked lock box set on the bar area. They then took a pry bar from a fire truck and used it to force open a locked kitchen cabinet and took $500 from a pitcher. They then rummaged through the cabinet for the keys to the rear office but could not find them.

The criminals used the pry bar to force open the rear office door where they took about $50.

Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.
