Four people scheduled for preliminary hearings before District Magisterial Judge Steven Bayer, of Tamaqua, on Nov. 20 failed to appear in court.

Joseph J. Carroll

, 38, of Tamaqua, was due in court to answer to charges of simple assault and harassment stemming from a Sept. 14 case. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Jeremy Sborz.

Christine A. Seliga

, 47, of Hazleton, didn’t appear for a hearing on charges of providing false identification to law enforcement, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and disorderly conduct. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Michael Hayes after a July 31 traffic stop.

Kirvi Coradin

, 39, of Hazleton, missed his hearing on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license, violating the sound decibel level ordinance and driving without rear lights. The charges were filed by McAdoo patrolman William Curilla after a Feb. 27 traffic stop.

Katherine Marie Fergel

, 33, of Tuscarora was due in court for a hearing on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Frederick Lahovski in connection with an Aug. 17 case.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of all four defendants.

John William Filer

, 54, of Tamaqua, was in court to answer to charges in four separate drug-related cases. Tamaqua patrolman Thomas Rodgers filed the charges in cases from Sept. 10, while Tamaqua patrolman Anthony Stannel was the arresting officer in charges from Aug. 15 and 23 cases. Filer was charged with felony counts of possession with intent to deliver and criminal use of a communications facility, as well as misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance in all four cases.

He remains in the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $50,000 bail set in each of the cases.

Samuel Charles Smolar

, 29, of Tamaqua, waived hearings in two preliminary hearings. The first case stems from March 19, when he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia by Rush Township patrolman Ryan Oldt.

Bail in that case was set at $5,000 percentage.

Smolar was charged with simple assault, harassment and strangulation by Rush Township Police Chief Kenneth Zipovsky in connection with a Sept. 11 case. Bail for those charges was set at $15,000 percentage.

Adam Jude Coleman

, 30, of Tuscarora, waived a hearing on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, terroristic threats, harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and reckless endangerment. The charges were filed by Coaldale patrolman James Bonner in connection with a May 31 case.

Bail was initially set at $50,000 straight, but was reduced to $50,000 unsecured on June 19.

Michael Andrejco

, 33, of Nesquehoning, waived a hearing on a charge of theft by deception, filed by Rush Township patrolman Bradley Hess. The charge was filed in connection with an Aug. 2 incident.

Andrejco was released on his own recognizance.

Shyann N. Boyer

, 24, of Schuylkill Haven, waived a hearing on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Michael Hobbs in connection with a July 13 case.

Bail was initially set at $50,000 cash, but was reduced to $2,000 percentage at her preliminary hearing.

She was unable to post the reduced bail and was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison.

Nicholas John D’Angelo

, 28, of Tamaqua, waived a hearing on charges of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief. The charges stem from an Oct. 25 incident and were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Karl Harig.

Unable to post the required $25,000 straight cash bail, he was returned to the county prison.
