Suspect flees stop, faces charges

A Northampton County man is facing multiple charges after he fled a vehicle stop in Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton said troopers made a vehicle stop at 9:26 p.m. Oct. 3 in the 500 block of Interchange Road in Polk Township. Upon stopping the driver, later identified as Philip Marshall Castner, 36, of Bethlehem, he exited the vehicle and ran off. After he failed to obey commands to stop, troopers deployed a Taser and were able to take Castner into custody.

An investigation revealed that Castner had an active warrant for his arrest, was driving under the influence of a controlled substance, was in possession of multiple controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and was a felon in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

Castner was placed in the county prison in Snydersville on the warrant with other charges pending.
