Summit Hill contest winners named

The Summit Hill Memorial Day Parade Committee has announced the winners of its 2019 home decorating and float contests held in conjunction with the parade held on Memorial Day.

In the home decorating contest, first place and a prize of $100 went to Lou and Maxine Vermillion, 47 E. Holland St., while the $50 second-place prize went to Bob & Nancy Henninger, 220 E. Ludlow St. Third place, $25, went to Patricia “Billie” O’Gurek, 56 W. Walter St.

In the float competition, in which floats in the parade were judged on a “patriotic theme,” the Summit Hill Historical Society’s entry won it the $200 first-place prize. Second place and $100 was presented to the Nolan Ritchie.

Stay Afloat Foundation, received third place and the Summit Hill Hootenanny organizers won $50.

Judges from out of town were used by the committee to select the winners.
